Short story: Abducted | Chapter 1

"Oh why so cast down? Don't you know the good news," the man with the funny hat asked. A young woman to whom he was pointing his question looked around. Her back was turned to him as she sat there on the park bench.

"Do I look as though I am interested in anything you have to say old man," she replied. She turned her head towards him and peered from the corner of her eyes before slowly turning back around.

"I do believe once you have heard everything I have to say, you will find it surprisingly refreshing," the old man smiled and presented his hand. "Hi, my name is Sid." The young lady didn't even bother turning around, she just kept on looking in the direction she was looking before old man Sid interupted. "Do you like this park?" Sid interrupted further.

"I use to come here when I was a child," the young lady said in the same harsh tone she previously had.

"Yeah me too," Sid replied. "So I take it you have quite a few fond memories here."

"Why are you bothering me," the young lady, this time interrupted. "What did I do to deserve your nagging on such a nice day? What is it you want from me?"

"I just want you to know one simple thing, God loves you and cares for you. He cared enough to send his Son to die upon a cross for you so that your sins might be forgiven." The man smiled as he walked around to the front of the bench the young lady was sitting.

She looked up at him with tears in her eyes, "I wouldn't suggest you sit here. And if your God loves me so much, why did he allow this to happen to me. I am a prisoner in my own home. My own family has enslaved me. And in a few moments, a man is going to come up to us to find out what we're talking about."

And surely enough, within 15 secs there was a middle aged man who had been briskly walking towards Sid and the young lady. "Hi may I help you," he said quite sharply.

"We were just talking," Sid said with his usual smile. "Hi my name is."

"I don't care what your name is. This is my daughter and I don't like her speaking to strange old men. Now buzz off." The middle aged man was wearing a mechanics shirt with the name Bobby enbroidered across the left breast.

"No need to get upset, I was just telling her about the love of Jesus Christ and how he will forgive her of all her sins if she only asked." Sid stepped back, sensing that he might be in danger and that he had said all he could for the moment. "You both will be in my prayers." He then turned around and walked away.

Bobby then turned to the young lady, "you better had not tell him nothin. I told you don't talk to nobody."

"Bobby he came to me, I swear, he came to me."

"What did you tell him," he said under his breath and gritting his teeth.

"I didn't say a word. He wanted to tell me about his God or something and I told him I didn't want no part of it. Bobby I swear!" The tears where already running down her face.

"Shan, I swear, if I see a police snooping a mere one block from da house, you and da boy gonna get it."

Shan's eyes widened, "Bobby please...don't hurt my boy. Please! I beg you." In the midst of her sobbing, she finally gathered some strength, "if you touch my boy I 'll kill you."

Bobby unbuttoned his shirt, "watch your mouth little girl, remember I'm the one with the judgement." He opened his shirt and revealed the handle of a handgun. The same handgun he used to abduct her.
